This April Muslims around the world are celebrating their holiest month of the year. To join them in celebration we created these printable lantern transparencies.
In traditional stories of Ramadan, children carried lanterns to light the way as they sang in celebration of the holy month.
Today on the Moon Child Blog, our friend Sunny created these Ramadan lantern transparencies to brighten your windows during celebrations.
Gather Your Materials
- Printable lantern templates
- Waldorf Window Star Paper
- Scissors
- Craft Knife
- Cardboard
- Glue or tape
Cut & Create Your Ramadan Window Lanterns
Start by printing the lantern templates provided. You can use regular paper or cardstock for a sturdier result. If you don’t have access to a printer, you may also use plain black paper or cardstock and draw your own lantern with pencil.
Cut out lantern using scissors. Use your craft knife to cut the more detailed areas. Make sure to use something underneath to protect your table surface. A recycled box folded in half works nicely, as does a thick cutting board.
Cut kite paper or tissue paper to fill the empty space of your lantern. Tape or glue the paper onto the backside of the lantern. Try to adhere in a way that the tape can’t be seen from the front of your project.
Find a special place to display your colorful lanterns. We hope you have a safe and joyus festival. Ramadan Mubarak!
